My subject matter derives from my need to connect with nature, which I believe to be a universal human necessity. I paint with an intentional and active mindfulness to allow the past and future to slip away. Many types of media are used to create the texture in my works, from clay to high gloss molding material, to the application of the paint itself. Viewers often speak of wanting to touch the paintings because of the variety of surfaces and the layers of glowing colors. My application of paint with heavy hand stems from my studies at the University of California, Davis and my love of Bay Area Figurative painting. The energy applied in the painting process is meant to mirror the energy of the painting’s subject – for example – the energy of ocean, the energy of stream. With and without the figure present, the energy applied is very similar.

I am a Mexican painter that have lived in the United States for over 20 years. Most of my images are born out of an impulse that takes different shapes during the creative process. This process combines, luck, intuition, composition and some reasoning to control the chaos. I lack of a formal method for creating; I follow the flow of the images and let them control me instead of me controlling them.

My work is deeply shaped by experiences growing up in London in the 60’s, when fashion and music were exploding, where clothing became art, and design burst into the everyday. I have a simple aim - to create dynamic, vibrant works that jump on and off the wall. Proceeds from her work help support Cancer CAREpoint and other nonprofit causes.
